agreed Bill on Simmonds. It might be in the Flyers best interest to let this play out over the first few months of the season... I would hate to lose a guy like Simmonds, but a bad contract although affordable now most certainly would come back at some time in the future to hurt the team.

I understand why players want longer term, but I would expect someone to begin to take advantage of more money to sign shorter deals.

Not really news. The no-trade list pre-July 1 is required of every player in the NHL who has a partial NTC or else it defaults to the previous list.

Does anyone know when they'll release the Development Camp A/B rosters?

The remaining off season goals should be:

Find a 3C either by trade or via free agency.

Look to move Gudas and acquire a better Dman to replace him.

Upgrade the goaltending, even if it’s just moving Neuvirth for an equivalent but more durable player.

How I’d do it:

First the D:
I don’t like love Tyler Myers but Winnipeg needs to shed salary. I’d offer them a 2nd and a 4th for Myers and I’d see if I can send Gudas to Edmonton, they really need a RH Dman. I’d offer them Gudas and the 3rd we got in the Marody deal for a 2nd in 2019 and a 4th in 2020. All other picks are in 2019.

For 3C:
I’d sign Riley Nash to a 4 year deal, and I’d be willing to overpay him a bit so that he’ll take the 4 years. I’d also front load the deal as much as possible to make easier to deal him after 2 or 3 years if so desired.

The offer would be
18-19 3 million signing bonus, 1.5 million salary
19-20 2.5 million bonus, 1 million salary
20-21 1 million bonus, 2.25 million salary
21-22 500k bonus, 1.75 salary

aav is 3.375 million per

Finally the goaltending:

I’d offer Neuvirth and the 2nd in 2019 from Edmonton to St Louis for Jake Allen and a 4th.

This would still leave the Flyers with their own 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th along the Blue’s 4th and Montreal’s 7th in 2019 and all of our own picks in 2020 plus Edmonton’s 4th.

So Morin gets a new contract with a handful of NHL games under his belt, not to mention missing majority of this season. Must be a performance based deal.

not sure I agree with the guys you want to bring in, but you nailed it as far as what they need to address. I would love if they brought in ROR, but the cost is high as far as another center. Myers is a solid skating D man who would be a fantastic addition over Gudas for sure....In net, I'm at a loss for what the Flyers might do. I don't trust the health of either Flyer vet going forward....I wonder if Hextall is hoping one of the Kids steps up this year that are not named Hart?

700k aav?

I think it was just a straight contract. The team most likely feels he will make a full recovery and he will be on the NHL roster by 2019-2020 at the latest. What's the big deal?

Not sure how I feel about back-to-back years without a 2nd. I'd rather try to include the 3rd and a guy like Weal/Vecchione/etc. in the St. Louis deal.

I don’t want ROR at 5 more years at 7.5 million, nor do I want to move what it will likely take to get him.

I was happy to see him signed....hopefully he can get healthy and make the jump to the big team....It would be so good for the flyers o be able to add a kid with that size and those attributes.

I'd be shocked if you could get Myers for that price. I'd rather bury or just keep Neuvirth as the backup then to give up a 2nd round pick to make a minor upgrade for the short term. Keep in mind that I have little faith in Neuvirth.

The 2nd they send to St Louis in this scenario is the one acquired from Edmonton in the Gudas deal. They would still have a 2nd in 2020 and they had one in 2018. It would only be one year without one which IMO is a fair price to both upgrade the D and in goal

It's a good deal. Worst thing they could have done is give him the QO, have him accept, perform well down the stretch, and force the to pay him more.

In this case, worst thing that can happen is he regresses/becomes injury prone and they spend less than $1M on him for the next 3 years,

He would definitely make the team better but not at the price it would cost to get him. It would also bury Patrick. Pass.

Whatever happened to Stolarz? He didn't look awful in his games he got in with the Flyers, did injuries just destroy him or what?
